Grades 7-8 | Middle School Program

Who Is This Program For?

Junior Academy’s Grades 7–8 program is designed for students who benefit from a structured middle school environment with individualized academic and learning support. It is well suited for students with learning disabilities, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental differences, executive functioning challenges, and other diverse learning needs.

Our Grade 7 and 8 program helps students build the academic, social/emotional, and independent learning skills they need to feel confident and prepared for high school.

What therapeutic services are available?

Junior Academy takes a collaborative approach to supporting students’ academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs.

These supports can complement classroom instruction and help students develop skills related to communication, self-regulation, independence, and learning. (link)

Regular communication between teachers, the multi-disciplinary team and families helps ensure that students’ support continues to reflect their changing needs and goals.

What Happens Next?

A key goal of the Grade 7–8 program is a successful transition to high school. Our teachers and administration work closely with students and families to identify secondary school options that align with each student’s academic needs, learning profile, strengths, interests, and future goals.

Students receive guidance as they prepare for the high school application and transition process, helping them develop the independence, organization, self-advocacy, and study skills they will need for their next stage of education.

We aim to help every student transition to a high school environment where their learning needs can continue to be supported and where they can build on the progress they have made at Junior Academy.

“My son has been attending Junior Academy for the last three years. The care and attention given to him has been incredible. The class sizes are small and the staff and teacher communication is excellent. Only regret is that we did not find this school earlier” – Current Grade 7 Parent
