Grade 1 to 6 | Primary & Junior Program

Who is this program for?

Junior Academy’s Grades 1–6 program is designed for students who benefit from a small, structured special education school environment with individualized academic and learning support. Our program supports students with learning disabilities, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental differences, and other diverse learning needs.

Students learn at their own pace while receiving the level of support, remediation, enrichment, and challenge they need to achieve academic success, build confidence and develop the essential social and emotional skills to thrive at school and beyond. We meet students where they are and set them up for success.

What learning needs does it support?

Our Grades 1–6 program supports students with a range of learning differences and special education needs, including:

  • Learning disabilities and learning difficulties
  • ADHD and executive functioning challenges
  • Autism and neurodiverse learning profiles
  • Reading, writing, and mathematics difficulties
  • Challenges with organization, attention and self-regulation
  • Students who require additional academic support or individualized instruction

Our small class sizes and individualized approach allow teachers to adapt instruction to each student’s learning profile, strengths, and areas of need.

What academic support is available?

What happens next?

As students progress through Grades 1–6, we continually evaluate their changing academic, social/emotional and learning needs. We work closely with families to ensure students receive the appropriate individualized learning support as they become more independent learners.

As students approach the next stage of their education, Junior Academy helps families understand their options and plan for a successful transition to the next grade level. As a teaching team, we coordinate transition meetings between the previous and incoming teachers to share valuable strategies, and student-specific information, ensuring a smooth and supportive transition into the new school year
