Dear JA Families,

I hope you had a wonderful Family Day long weekend. I would like to extend a big thank you to all of the parents who organized the Chinese New Year festivities for us last week. I am also excited to report that last week’s Valentine’s Bake sale earned $481.56! Thank you for your support.

Tax Forms

Tax forms were sent home last week in your child’s agenda.  If you have not already found the envelope, please check your child’s agenda.  Please feel free to contact Matt Johnson ( if you have any questions.

Pancake Day Celebration – February 27th

As is tradition, we will be celebrating our own pancake day at Junior Academy on Tuesday, February 27th. All students are welcome to participate however, pancakes must be pre-ordered by Friday, February 23rd. If your child is interested in receiving pancakes will begin serving classes at 8:00 a.m. and stop serving at 8:40 a.m. Students may eat their breakfast in their homeroom classes.

Please see the attached poster and order form if you wish to participate.

School Photos – March 2

School photos will occur on the morning of Friday, March 2nd and will be taken by Perfect Portraits Photo Studio. Perfect Portraits will take a class photo as well as individual photos of each student. All photos will take place in the morning and all students are required to be in Full Dress. Following the photo session, Perfect Portraits will contact you with information about ordering photos online.

Please let us know if your child will be absent on March 2nd.

School Dance – March 2

Our third annual J.A. DANCE PARTY will take place on Friday, March 2nd, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. From 6:00-6:30, students will be served pizza in their classrooms and adult pizza and refreshments will be available in the library. The dance will commence at 6:30, hosted by DJ Trevor who comes to us from Interactive Entertainment. Please note that tickets will need to be pre-purchased for this event so please complete the forms that are attached and return them a.s.a.p. Friends and family are welcome.

This year, the theme of our dance will be “Beach Party”. We welcome all participants to dress in ‘beach attire’ for the event.

We are also looking for a number of volunteers who can assist us with setting up the gym and library in the afternoon of March 2nd. If you are able to help out, please contact Nicole Doiron. (

Parent Discussion Night #2 – Save the Date!

The second evening in our series of parent discussion sessions will take place on Wednesday, March 28th at 7:00 p.m.

The topic of the evening will be a combination of Managing Technology in the Home and Collaborative and Proactive Solutions.

Homework Club

You may have noticed that we are offering an after-school homework club on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school from 3:30 p.m. to 4:20 p.m. Homework club is designed as a quiet study opportunity for students in grades 3-8 to complete homework. A teacher will be supervising the club and available to provide some assistance. Please note, homework club does not take the place of tutoring. If you wish for your child to participate in homework club during term three, please contact Cathy Hibbert. (  Limited spaces are available!
