Dear JA Families,
I hope that you had a wonderful long weekend. I would like to extend a thank you to all of the families who joined me in the library for our first round-table meeting yesterday. I would also like to recognize Alex King, whose name was inadvertently left off of last week’s list of Character Champions.
Morning Coffee Meetings
Yesterday, we had our first round-table coffee morning for parents in the Kindergarten, grades one and two classes.
There are upcoming sessions for:
Grades 3, 4 and 5: Thursday October 12, 8:45 a.m.
Grades 6, 7, and 8: Wednesday October 18, 8:45 a.m.
I would like to invite you to come in to the school, have a coffee and meet with me. During this time, I will be offering specific focus groups and I would like to hear your comments on a variety of topics. Your feedback is valuable and will help to shape Junior Academy’s strategic plan. Please mark your calendar for the appropriate session and RSVP to Nick Johnson, njohnson@junioracademy.com .
If you were unable to attend any of the grade specific meetings, we will also have an all grades session on the evening of Wednesday, October 18th, from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Please note, this date was originally advertised as Thursday, October 19th however, due to a conflict with a classroom social the evening round table will occur on Wednesday night. If you plan on attending, please RSVP to Nick Johnson, njohnson@junioracademy.com .
Annual Fund
Last week, Junior Academy officially kicked off the 2017-2018 Annual Fund Campaign. The school is raising funds for a number of projects and new initiatives. Details are described in the attached letter. Our goal is to raise $80,000 and we have already had one family make a pledge for 10% of our Annual Fund Goal! It is my hope that every family will make a contribution suitable to their individual circumstances.
Skating
Skating lessons will begin next Tuesday, October 17th at York Mills arena. Students who are participating will need their own equipment including skates, a helmet with face mask and gloves.
