Admission Procedure

Interested parents are invited to contact the school for a tour of our facilities and to meet with the Principal, Paul Bamberger to discuss both the academic curriculum and innovative programs offered at Junior Academy.  Appointments are available Monday through Thursday.

Pre K and Kindergarten Applicants

For those parents who wish to proceed with registration for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten, a date for a half-day classroom visit will be scheduled. Visiting students are placed in their current grade level where they are observed and expected to take part in class activities.  Registration takes place throughout the year and is on a first-come basis.

Grades 1 – 3 Applicants

Students applying for Grades 1 to 3 visit the school for a day.  While visiting, students are given an entrance assessment to evaluate their levels of academic achievement in the core subject areas of Language Arts and Mathematics.

Grades 4 – 8 Applicants

Students applying for Grades 4 to 8 follow the same procedure as Grades 1 to 3 applicants.  In addition, students will meet with the principal for a short, informal interview.

Copies of the two previous end of year report cards as well as assessment reports (if applicable) will be requested prior to a student visit.

Following the visit assessment and receipt of all required information an ‘Offer of Placement’ will be forwarded, if appropriate.  Parents will be contacted and the offer letter will be mailed and/or emailed.
