Dear JA Families,
Thank you to everyone who participated in yesterday’s pancake breakfast and to all of the staff who worked so hard to prepare the pancakes and sausages for the school.
It’s hard to believe that March Break and term two report cards are just around the corner. Report cards for grades 1-8 will be sent home with your child on Friday, March 9th. Please note, the next round of parent-teacher conferences with take place on Thursday, April 12, 2018.
I look forward to seeing many of you on Friday evening for our Friends and Family Dance Party. If you haven’t purchased your tickets yet, it’s not too late. This is always an enjoyable event!
School Photos – March 2
School photos will occur on Friday of this week, March 2nd. Following the photo session, Perfect Portraits will contact you with information about ordering photos online.
Please note that all students are required to be in Full Dress. Please let us know if your child will be absent on March 2nd.
School Dance – March 2
Our third annual J.A. DANCE PARTY is only two days away, taking place this Friday, March 2nd, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. From 6:00-6:30, students will be served pizza in their classrooms and adult pizza and refreshments will be available in the library. The dance will commence at 6:30, hosted by DJ Trevor who comes to us from Interactive Entertainment. Please note that tickets will need to be pre-purchased for this event so please complete the forms that are attached and return them by tomorrow morning! Friends and family are welcome.
This year, the theme of our dance will be “Beach Party”. We welcome all participants to dress in ‘beach attire’ for the event.
If parking in the school lot is full, please park on Arjay, the side street to the south of us.
Lockdown Rehearsal
On Wednesday, February 21st we had our first lockdown rehearsal for this school year. The students efficiently moved in to their safe spaces and stayed quiet during the 5-minute rehearsal. Should there ever be a need to call a lockdown at Junior Academy we are well prepared.
Science Fair
Our grades 5-8 students have been working exceptionally hard on their Science Fair projects and they are eager to share them on Wednesday, March 7th. Parents are invited to come from 8:40 – 9:40 to browse.
Save the Date!!! – Fun at Fabbrica with Junior Academy on April 19th
Please join us on Thursday, April 19th for cocktails and canapes at Fabricca restaurant from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. There will be fellowship, fun and door prizes! Tickets for this social are $60.00 each which will include two drinks and canapes. Reserve your ticket now by contacting Matt Johnson, mjohnson@junioracademy.com.
Save the Date!!! – Parent Discussion Night #2 on March 28th
The second evening in our series of parent discussion sessions will take place on Wednesday, March 28th at 7:00 p.m.
The topic of the evening will be a combination of Managing Technology in the Home and Collaborative and Proactive Solutions.

Save the Date!!! – Bowling Night on April 5th
Our JA family bowling night is scheduled for Thursday, April 5th, from 6:30 -7:30 pm. Please dust off your bowling shows and mark the date down. More information will be sent home following March Break.

There are many options and we encourage all students to get involved and find at least one club or sport that they would like to participate in. Homework Club
You may have noticed that we are offering an after-school homework club on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Homework club is designed as a quiet study opportunity for students in grades 3-8 to complete homework. A teacher will be supervising the club and available to provide some assistance. Please note, homework club does not take the place of tutoring. If you wish for your child to participate in homework club during term three, please contact Cathy Hibbert. (chibbert@junioracademy.com). Limited spaces are available!
