Dear JA Families,
It was great to see so many parents visiting the Science Fair on March 13th. The effort that went into the various investigations was truly impressive.
We hope that you are enjoying a relaxing March Break and we are looking forward to the final term of the 2016 – 2017 school year. A reminder that there are no classes on Monday, March 27th. The staff will be participating in professional development and classes will resume on Tuesday, March 28th.
The Red Cross Babysitting Course will be held on Monday, March 27th, for those students who have registered. The programme will run from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and students should bring a lunch and snacks. Please note: there will be no before or after care options as this is not a regular school day.
The course is created for the 11 – 15 age group, designed to teach babysitting, leadership and first aid skills in a fun and informative way. Students learn how to care for infants, toddlers and children, what questions to ask parents, how to give first aid and what to do in emergencies. Activity book activities, role-playing and hands-on practice teach skills and build confidence. Each student will also receive a copy of the Red Cross Babysitting Manual.
Hot Lunch Program and RFRK Lunch Club
A reminder that we will have no lunch deliveries during our first week back to school. Our new lunch program will begin the week of April 3rd.
Beginning on April 3, the Real Food Lunch Club at Junior Academy will provide delicious hot lunches. This opt-in lunch program is available to all grades (and teachers too) for Monday through Thursday of each week, for the remainder of this school year.
The litterless, family-style service also matches our eco efforts at school. Kids bring in a reusable, resealable lunch container and cutlery each day for lunch, then bring it back home for washing. The price is $5.20 daily for a healthy meat or veggie protein, side veg, healthy grain, and piece of fruit. Parents must order for all 4 service days per week. Parents with more than one child in the program receive a 5% discount.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact Real Food for Real Kids directly at416-410-5437 extension 2
